A powerful montage film showcasing the new Boating and Watersports Holiday Show
The Boating & Watersports Holiday Show, is an area of the newly re-designed London Boat Show for 2018 which is focused on travel companies and businesses who offer water based holidays. The London Boat Show is a large scale international event which takes places at Excel London in January.
The organisers of the Boating & Watersports Holiday Show, ‘British Marine Boat Shows’ briefed us to create a video that ‘stood out’. They wanted the audience to watch the video and escape the winter chill and move into the holiday spirit. Ultimately this video would influence their decision to visit the show, plan their next escape and book their next adventure.
In a ideal world we would have loved to visit lots of lovely exotic destinations and film all the clips for this video, however, with the variety of amazing footage on offer from stock footage sites as well as our personal collection of travel clips we were able to quickly move forward and cost-effectively with the production for this project.
We storyboarded the video and decided to begin with a dreamy holiday sequence to grab audience’s attention before shooting back to reality on the rainy January morning in the UK. We shot these scenes at a house location and used one of our pre-show videos on an iPad to help advertise the show. The character heads off in the rain to a rapid underground London route before arriving at the show. Once the booking was complete off they go on an amazing journey. We used a variety of beautiful travel shots aimed at a range of audiences, from couples to families, all enjoying a wide range of water-based activities. This footage connects with the audience showing them the fantastic adventures they can have and the activities that can be booked during a visit to the show.
We have a strong track record in both the marine and travel industries so we undertook this project with strong knowledge of the markets and ideas being conveyed.
The Robin Creative Media team has worked on a large number of films for the organisers to promote the show months before the event, this helps to increase sales to both visitors and exhibitors. The majority of these films focused on utilising footage we had shot at the previous show and promotes all the features available to visitors and what they can expect from the 2018 show.
The client gave us a fantastic response as we achieved their goals for the video. The project was used across all their social media channels, it was featured on advertising screens in public spaces like restaurants and venues, their advertising agency also promoted it as well as in email marketing.
